August 29-30, 2009
Susanne Benne’s vast classical equestrian background stems from three generations of equine husbandry and education in Germany where her family still owns and operates a breeding and training facility. After five years of apprenticeship and studies concluded by 10 weeks of testing, Susanne achieved her “Meisterbrief” in Equine Education and Management and was the youngest to do so in Germany at the time. It earned her the silver medal “Stensbeck” plaque in 1983. She then held two distinguished positions as head trainer and manager for Gestuet Gut Haidehof in Hamburg and Reitund Fahvrverein Braunschwein, promoting and managing up to 80 dressage horses. Some of her achievements include multiple state, regional, and county Championships. She qualified and participated in the German championships for several years. She has had instruction and continues her education under such renowned masters as Will Schulteis, Maria Gunther, Herbert Rehbein, Harry Bolt, Dr. Joachim Boesche, and Reitmeister Festerling, and Olympians Ingrid Klimke, Hubertus Schmidt, Jan Brink and International dressage judge Bo Jenna from Sweden. In 2002 Susanne moved to America with her husband, their two children and her then four-year-old Hanoverian gelding Roger Rabbit embracing Florida as her new home. Richard and Susanne own and operate Half Halt Stables. Roger is thriving, quickly earning championship titles through PSG as she trains with Olympian Michael Poulin.
