Linda Smith 508-254-3830 [email protected] Click here for Year End Awards Criteria *This must be done each time you volunteer at a CRDA Event that is NOT a schooling show. Volunteers at our schooling shows will have their volunteer time recorded and saved by the Volunteer Coordinator - Linda Smith |
Volunteers are the lifeblood of any organization such as ours. Without the dedication and generosity of the club’s members who come forward to support our shows and events there would be no shows and events to support. So please be sure to thank a Volunteer next time you are at an event. An obvious expression of your appreciation may encourage them to do it again!
A back of the envelope calculation of the labor required to run one schooling show indicates a need for over 200 hours. Now multiply that by 4 schooling shows and you can see the clamor for help is very real. Please consider donating a couple of hours to your local club. (Preferably CRDA, but we are biased!) Don’t worry about not knowing what to do. We will provide you with on the job training. We most definitely will appreciate you. We will feed and water you. There may even be some cool swag, and there will be many, many Thank Yous! |
VOLUNTEER FAQS
**How do I sign up to volunteer?**
An email to our Volunteer Coordinator, Linda Smith, at [email protected], will get you started. Please let us know what date(s) you are available and in what job you are most interested. Don't know what the jobs are? No problem. We will be happy to explain what's needed and what each position entails. **Year End and Scholarship Volunteer Info**
If you are competing and wish to be eligible for our Year End Awards, you must have 4 hours of volunteer time. Effective July 2022, you may have a family member or friend volunteer on your behalf, and you do not have to personally complete the hours. You must let the Volunteer Coordinator know in advance and submit this form to them prior to the start of volunteer hours.) Volunteering at the shows is the easiest way to get those hours under your belt. Another way is to assist with organizing a clinic or becoming a CRDA officer when there is an opening. Occasionally, there are other opportunities for hours, such as writing an article for the newsletter or helping at the Year End Banquet. Watch the newsletter or our social media pages on FaceBook or Instagram for those openings. We are likely to send out emails as well.
Effective 2022: If you wish to apply for the CRDA Educational Scholarships 4 volunteer hours are required.
**How do I get my hours to count? **
Volunteers at Schooling Shows need only check in and out with our Volunteer Coordinator at the show who will record your hours. If you volunteer at another event or in another way, please fill out the Volunteer Form and have it signed by the event manager. Submit this form to the Volunteer Coordinators office by email at [email protected] or contact us at the same email for other methods (USPS or Fax).
**How do I check my hours?**
Volunteer hours are recorded on the Membership List, which can be found here. If you have any questions, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Linda Smith at [email protected]. Please give us a week after the shows to finish updating the hours before emailing about missing hours. The spreadsheet gets updated by hand (hoof?) and not automatically by software.
Thank you very much for considering donating your time to what we believe is a worthy cause - offering affordable schooling shows, clinics and other educational opportunities to further our collective knowledge of Dressage, and of course, the horse.
